TEAM, Inc., a non-profit social service agency serving in 12 communities including the Valley (Ansonia, Derby, Oxford, Seymour, & Shelton), Milford, Waterbury, and Naugatuck has the following opportunity in its quality Head Start program based in Ansonia:
BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND DISABILITIES COORDINATOR – P/T
Part-time (25 hr/wk) position available to oversee the behavioral health & disabilities components of Early Childhood programs including Head Start, Early Head Start, School Readiness and Child Day Care. Primary responsibilities include: 1) observing children to determine need for special sevices and ensuring timely referrals, 2) providing expertise to staff and families in the area of special needs, 3) acting as liaison with LEA’s to ensure delivery of special education services and oversee Memorandums of Agreement, 4) acting as liaison to Birth to Three, Behavioral Health consultants and other agencies, 5) ensuring resources, advocacy and support for parents during the referral process for special services, 6) monitoring the status of screenings, referrals, PPT’s and delivery of special education and mental health services, 7) developing and implementing staff trainings and development plans, 8) monitoring Head Start standards, 9) developing component plans,and 10) developing policies and procedures as needed.
Candidates must possess a minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field and 5+ year’s relevant experience. Successful candidate must possess the following: 1) strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, 2) thorough understanding of early childhood development, 3) knowledge of specials needs including PPT process, 4) knowledge of Head Start and Early Head Start performance standards, School Readiness goals, Connecticut Early Learning and Development standards, and 5) solid computer skills.
